Bay Area Pole Vault Academy is located at 2100 Ohio Avenue in Dickinson, TX
Practices are generally scheduled Monday - Thursday 5pm-7pm & Saturday 9am-2pm.
Athletes are scheduled according to ability.
How do I get started?

Every new BAPVA athlete, regardless of prior skill level, must attend a private clinic before joining group lessons. This is where the athlete will learn our basic set of drills and terminology in order to start attending group lessons.

What is USATF & why do we need to be a member?
USATF is the governing body for USA Track & Field. You will need a USATF membership to participate in local, regional & national track meets.
To join, visit USATF.org/membership
Are coaches & parents allowed to attend?
Parents are welcome anytime. Coaches need to call ahead if they want to attend.
What do I need to bring to practice?
Dress according to the weather. Running shoes, shorts, & Track spikes.
Do I need my own poles?
No, we supply poles for all practices & meets except for the outdoor High School season, poles will be rented for the HS season.
What is the practice format?
We practice in 2 week cycles. Each cycle blends into the next one. Warm up (form running drills), pole drills, gymnastics, stretching, pit drills.
How do I communicate with the club? How do we Pay?
Once registered, students are encouraged to download the TeamApp (see below). This app provides an easy way to schedule practices, pay for lessons and communicate with the coaches.
How often should I vault?
No more than 3 x a week. 2 practices & 1 meet. **never jump 2 days in a row**
Should I stop doing other sports?
I would say, no, but that depends on the athlete. Pole vaulting is a very demanding sport. We train & compete year round.
